Bam! Check out this explosion of SATURDAY SHORTS!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here coming off the high of SXSW. Seriously, Austin is awesome and running from screening to screening across town has practically blown out the tires of my sleep schedule, but here we are in line for some kickass shorts. This week we have all sorts of interesting films to choose from and even have a premiere (A SPHERE IN BOXLAND). So on that note, relax, grab some popcorn, and enjoy some shorts made by fellow Ain’t It Cool readers!

A SPHERE IN BOXLAND

"A Sphere In Boxland" is a story for anyone who has ever felt like they don't belong. In a place called Boxland, a lone Sphere struggles with being different than everyone around him. Lonely, sad, and the target of constant harassment, he sets out one day after losing his job, in search of a place where he fits in."

FINGERS

"Chubby Tom nods along to music in his dark room. We barely see the flash of the blade as it swings down towards his hand.  Carrie's indifferent to birthdays now -‐ that excitement gets less and less every year. But wait! An exquisite little box containing a macabre gift, and a scribbled note... "

LA HORA DE LA MUERTE / THE HOUR OF DEATH

"A has-been radio personality spends the later years of his career hosting a midnight radio horror show. Callers tune in and relate their personal brushes with the supernatural. However one night he is faced with what might be his first actual contact with the beyond, and is forced to question just how much responsibility his job actually demands. All of this while a life hangs in the balance."

THE VIOLINIST

"Michael, a down on his luck, love-less bag boy, learns that world-famous, concert violinist, Nicholas Rentz is going to be performing for a few nights in his home town. Bearing a resemblance to the musician (a well-known bachelor with female fans around the globe), Michael hatches an elaborate plan to impersonate him with the hope that he can trick a woman or two into thinking he's the genuine article, and get lucky. But when he meets a classy young woman at a ritzy nightclub and is poised to seal the deal, things take an unexpected turn."

WITCH OCTOBER

"A tale of sacrifice, friendship, and magic involving an old New England witch and her trusty helper; a little blue Imp."

THE THING IN THE DISTANCE

"It's a strange paranoid tale of obsession and hot tea.Boxhead obsesses over an unseen and possibly non existent enemy."

And there we are folks, the last short for the evening. It’s time to turn the house lights back on and empty out, so we can get ready for our next screening. Remember, if you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in – I’d love to check it out.

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.  I swear to each of you I truly check every email I get, and sending the same short a few times just makes it a bit messier.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks. I’m sure the filmmaker’s would be interested in hearing what you have to say! I’ve already given my two cents, how about yours?

What's that? You want to keep this SHORTS party going? Sure thing, here's a few links to past columns:
