Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week's edition of SATURDAY SHORTS, the online screening room that showcases badass films created by readers like you and me. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the past few weeks have been a little "M" exclusive as they both showcased only films created for the ABCs OF DEATH 2 competition. Well let's shift gears and dive into some familiar waters, unrestricted imaginative awesomeness. This week we're going to have some fun with a few horror films I think you'll get a kick out of. Next week will include a doc, some comedy, and perhaps an experimental film or two - but for now, let's make with the blood, guts, and terror! A few of these are a little on the long side (running time style) than most of the shorts I tend to feature, and because I think they're totally worth your time, I'll only be screening four films this week. Last week's Talkback was pretty ideal, directors interacting with folks who had questions and whatnot - so hey, how about we try to get that again? Start a discussion, ask a question, critique the tar out of these (just don't be a jerk). I'll spare you from my enthusiastic ramblings here, let's just hop on in and watch some cool films, eh?

ONIONHEAD

First film fresh out of the gate this week is Catero Colbert with a rather fun story that's straight out of an eighties slasher flick. (Golden) "Sixty years ago a giant grotesquely disfigured man roamed the woods of a rural Louisiana community. The locals cruelly nickname him Onionhead. When a young girl was found murdered, he was wrongfully blamed. An angry mob came for him, killed him then buried his dismembered remains in an unmarked grave. Many years later a young teenage couple meets the resurrected monster, when four children unwittingly release him from the grave that trapped him for decades." I hear Catero's got a damn cool robot flick in the can that he's working on. Fingers crossed, it's as much fun as this one!

Next up we've got a beautifully executed (slick) flick from director William Prince. "At the end of a long day, five children look to fill the remaining hours of sunlight in an abandoned building. A location that leads them to discover why we are afraid of the dark." If you like what you see, then be sure to hit up the film's site or William's site for more kickass films!
