This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: A Comedy Fest of Greatness!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week's roundup of awesome flicks created and submitted by AICN readers like you and me. First off, my apologies for posting so late in the day (half of the Saturday is gone!), I know - I stink, but believe me - my world's been jam packed with all sorts of crazy good things, all of which I can't say a damn thing about. What I can say though, is that if you're in the mood to check out some quality shorts that are sure to tickle your funny bone, I've got you covered. I am still on the look out for fresh shorts, so if you've got one, run it up the flagpole - send it to Mike@aintitcool.com ("Shorts/"Title"/Genre"). So enough jibber jabber from me, let's watch some movies.

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

GRATITUDE

TRT: 20:00

From director Cyrus Mirakhor, we get our first flick of the week.

A harried young chef learns about cooking and hard choices from a talking fish.  Christie, a young chef who is struggling to please her very demanding boss Jude, finds her salvation in a talking fish that mysteriously appears in her kitchen. The fish shows her how to cook the world’s most amazing tasting fish; she needs only follow its very specific rules. Christie soon finds doing so will be much harder than she expects and will soon become very aware of the consequences of not being gracious.  Gratitude recently was shown at Oaxaca International Film Festival, Philadelphia Independent Film Festival (Best Comedic Short), AOF on Film International Film Festival (Nominations: Best make up, actor, SFX), Reel Independent Film Festival, and Temecula Valley International Film Festival.

Some kids love spooky stories.  But when Katlyn, Evan, and Nonie find a local urban legend, these trick 'r treating troublemakers are about to find out that some ghost stories are true, and some clowns just aren't that funny.

And last, but not least - we have an excellent film from Alex Montoya (@alexmontoya) to wrap out this week's selection.

"Every couple has two stories: the one they tell their children... and the real one." Featuring Irene Anula and Iñaki Ardanaz, the short film was written and directed by Álex Montoya and has earned forty something awards, including a honorable mention @Sundance 2010.

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?
