Will the director of the Indiana Jones films be involved with Disney’s upcoming “Star Wars” movies? "No! No!” Steven Spielberg told Access Hollywood. “It's not my genre, it's my best friend George's genre."
Which genre do we imagine Spielberg is talking about? Action or sci-fi?
According to Vulture, Spielberg is one of the director who’s actually seen the 3-movie treatment drafted by “Little Miss Sunshine” writer Michael Arndt. (Two others are J.J. Abrams and Brad Bird.)
Back in the 1970s, Spielberg told the world he was keen on the idea of directing a Star Wars movie.
So maybe that msyterious treatment for episodes VII, VII and IX isn't such hot stuff?
Quentin Tarantino tells Entertainment Weekly “I could so care less” about the looming trilogy. “No, sorry. Especially if Disney’s going to do it. I’m not interested in the Simon West version of Star Wars.”
West directed “Con Air” for Disney, as well as such other big-screen fare as “The General’s Daughter,” “Tomb Raider 2,” “The Mechanic” and “Expendables 2.”
“I don’t think I’d be interested in [directing it],” Zach Snyder, who directed “300,” “Watchmen” and “Man of Steel,” told the Los Angeles Times. “I’m a huge ‘Star Wars’ fanatic. I just think doing [episodes] seven, eight and nine is just a slippery slope. It’s a whole other mythological experiment I’m excited to see, but it’s a lot of effort.”
I hope it goes to J.J. Abrams, a mammoth “Star Wars” enthusiast who could bring back to “Star Wars” what was missing from all the “Star Wars” movies released subsequent to “The Empire Strikes Back”: some sharp humor.
The trick would be for Disney to allow Abrams, who wrote or co-wrote four of the best TV pilots I've ever seen, to utilize as much or as little of that treatment as he prefers.

As pre-production of Star Wars: Episode VII begins, Lucasfilm has confirmed that award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay for the new Star Wars film. As revealed in the ongoing video series posted here on StarWars.com, Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas have begun story conferences with Arndt. Arndt won an Academy Award® for Best Original Screenplay for writing Little Miss Sunshine (2006), and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for writing Toy Story 3 (2010).
