So I was looking around and saw a link that stated it had a new synopsis for PROMETHEUS. I expected a simple breakdown of the plot - what followed was what claims to be a complete breakdown of the movie. And I read the whole damn thing, and I really wish I hadn't.
The plot breakdown sounds right. It feels right. And if it's accurate, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it - PROMETHEUS is a full-fledged ALIEN prequel. It's science fiction on a scale that we haven't seen since 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. Of course, that's my humble opinion, and I'm trying not to be hyperbolic, but PROMETHEUS is a really big movie, full of big ideas. And, if this reads right, big scares as well.

Weyland-Yutani is definitely in the film, and the catalyst for everything that follows.
Michael Fassbinder's David is an android, but he becomes something far more important - the progenitor of the human race.
The alien is a bioweapon, meant to wipe out humanity.
The creatures that evolve from humanity are called PROTOFORMS, and one of them evolves into something ALIEN fans will recognize - a STAR BEAST.
It was suggested that this would only turn into an ALIEN prequel in the last moments, but reading the synopsis reveals that what Fassbender said in interviews, that "ALIEN is in the film's DNA" is pretty accurate. The plot reads exactly like something that would be a precursor to ALIEN.
The plot suggests that the Nostromo going to Zeta 2 Reticuli was planned well in advance. I'm not certain where PROMETHEUS and ALIEN fit together in the timeline, but I'd imagine that ALIEN can't be more than a hundred years or so afterwards.
So... you back? Now, I have no idea how long this has been making the rounds. I don't go out of my way looking for movies to spoil. This got dropped on my Facebook news feed by a friend and like a dummy I clicked on it. I've been trying to stay relatively spoiler-free for upcoming films and I'm failing fairly miserably at it. Does the synopsis sound right to you, or is this another smoke screen? I think we're close enough now to release that it would be difficult to deny that a lot of what the synopsis says seems fairly close to what we've been hearing about the film.
And I can't deny that some of these twisted visions of the plot, with H. R. Giger's art behind them, sound positively scary. ALIEN is still the one horror/science fiction film that haunts my dreams, and that's largely in part to Giger's work, and the general mood of the film. If this is right, it sounds like PROMETHEUS could be another one.
