I am – Hercules!!
12-year-old Elle Fanning ("The Lost Room," “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) and Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights,” “The Day The Earth Stood Still”), who turns 45 today, are the first two actors cast in “Super 8,” according to Vulture's Joe Adalian.
So far so good!
We also know this about the movie:
* J.J. Abrams (“Star Trek”) is writing and directing the project.
* Steven Spielberg ("Gremlins") is executive producer.
* It shoots this autumn for a 2011 release.
* ILM, Bad Robot, Amblin and Paramount are companies involved.
* The last time we saw the Amblin logo on a big screen may have been 2006’s “Letters From Iwo Jima.” “Amblin’” was a short Spielberg made in 1968 about a pair of young hitchhikers.
* There’s this trailer, with crickets and a train and a pickup truck and an Air Force logo and a reference to a chunk of Nevada’s mysterious Area 51 getting relocated to Ohio in 1979:
