Ahoy, squirts! Quint here freshly returned from a pretty crazy awesome double feature at the Alamo Drafthouse... it was a night hosted by Joe Bob Briggs who presented his favorite Preston Sturges movie Miracle of Morgan Creek and then '80s classic THE LAST DRAGON. As a betting man, I'd put a few bucks on that particular double feature ever running back to back in 35mm.
Fun night and then I get back to find this little tidbit from Jason Flemyng's own mouth. SuperHeroHype has the story from Movie-Con. Flemyng confirmed he's in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. Not a big leap as Flemyng has been in most of Vaughn's films, but the interesting part is WHO he will be playing.
I had stopped reading current Marvel books by the time Azazel was introduced, so it came as a surprise to me that Flemyng was going to play Nightcrawler's papa. I'm a big, big fan of Jason Flemyng... he's one of my favorite working character actors... so I'm excited to see him play around in the X-verse.
To add on to the X-Men casting Borys Kit at THR says that Rose Byrne (most recently seen in GET HIM TO THE GREEK) is in talks to play Moira MacTaggert, the love interest of James McAvoy's Charles Xavier. You may remember Olivia Williams played her in X3.
What a bizarre cast, right? Right now it's James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng, Jennifer Lawrence and, possibly, Rose Byrne. Looking forward to seeing where the film goes from here. Got my fingers crossed we end up with with a decent X-Men flick.
