Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little bit on director Stephen Gaghan (writer of TRAFFIC and director of the upcoming SYRIANA)'s next project, a book adaptation that he is scribing and directing from a non-fiction novel called BLINK: THE POWER OF THINKING WITHOUT THINKING. Hollywood Reporter's summary of the book is thus:
... a story about rapid cognition, about the kind of thinking that happens in a blink of an eye. Gladwell posited that when you meet someone for the first time, or walk into a house you are thinking of buying, or read the first few sentences of a book, your mind takes about two seconds to jump to a series of conclusions. "Blink" is a story about those two seconds when instant conclusions reached by people are really powerful, really important and, occasionally, really good.
Universal is handling the movie and Leonardo DiCaprio is producing and starring. Univeral has also just entered into a two-year first-look production deal with Gaghan. SYRIANA looks excellent and I trust Gaghan to take the above premise and make something special out of it. What do you folks think?
