Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
He's made some very, very good films, like SID & NANCY, HIGHWAY PATROLMAN (EL PATRULLERO) and REPO MAN. He also made the unwatchable STRAIGHT TO HELL and WALKER, though, and had THE WINNER taken away from him and destroyed, so the career of Alex Cox has been a bit baffling at times.
One of our readers dropped me a line yesterday though, that I thought I'd share with you, since it got my attention:
In the spirit of the QT5 REVENGE themed festival (god, that sounds amazing) I thought I would offer something that I have been eagerly awaiting and don't recall seeing too much about on AICN. Alex Cox's 'Revenger's Tragedy' w/ Christopher Eccleston, Derek Jacobi & Eddie Izzard.
The Revengers Tragedy Site contains links to a RM opening sequence (bad quality, interesting content), Cox's awesome weekly production diary he did for the BBC(they just wrapped) and to the play upon which it was based.
The Director's Official Site also has some clips from his rarely seen documentarys, like Verhoeven on Kurosawa (how cool is that?!)
Thanks...
Johnny Ambulance
I spent some time poking around the site today, and it's interesting stuff. I am curious to see the finished product, and am always excited when someone who's proven to have a strong, eclectic voice as a filmmaker in the past returns with new work that has the potential to be challenging, that still feels independent. I hope Cox has pulled it off. Nothing would make me happier.
"Moriarty" out.
