Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
Hal Hartley is one of those guys like Jim Jarmusch or David Lynch or Atom Egoyan or Beat Takeshi or even Richard Linklater. They make films that are very distinctly theirs, films that are not meant to be sold to every man, woman, and child who goes to the movies... films that are for select audiences. Films that appeal to very specific tastes. I'm not really a rabid Hartley fan, but I can respect his output, and I did fall head over heels for his last feature, HENRY FOOL.
Well, "Foolish Hank" contacted me today to steer me towards a website for Hartley's new film, NO SUCH THING, with Sarah Polley and Robert Burke.

It's basically a modern twist on BEAUTY & THE BEAST, and it looks like Burke (THINNER, ROBOCOP 3) is comfortable in his makeup role. It also looks far more commercially minded than anything I've seen from Hartley before, but that might just be the trailer. At any rate, it's worth a look...
"Moriarty" out.
