Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
The guys over at Moviehole just dropped us a line with a wee bit of news about TRON 2. I have no idea what the actual title of the piece is going to be, but now we know a little bit more about Jeff Bridges' role. Here's what they had to say:
Bridges agent tells me "Jeff did an interview for the Tron DVD last week, wearing his Tron hat. They told him there about the sequel. Apparently his part is being written like Marlon Brando in Apocolypse Now. The other guy (Martin Sheen?) is looking for him but he's fully entered the cyber world. It sounded like fun and Jeff is interested. We'll see..."
If they're using Kurtz as the template for Bridges' character this time out, that could be a lot of fun. TRON isn't a great film... hell, it's like a cinematic quaalude if you screen it at the wrong time... but it was remarkable for when it was made and for the world it created. If they can create something equally striking and hallucinatory for this new movie, then maybe they'll actually justify revisiting this world. Let's hope, eh? Until then...
