PSYCHO remakes, and the remaking of classics...

Remakes of CLASSICS... some consider it sacrilege, some consider it an offense worthy of the death penalty. Well, I don't necessarily go that far, but I do know that I agree with the concept of that trying to remake perfection is kinda of a futile expense. No matter how great the below people are, they are stuck in a massive catch-22. When Scorsese did CAPE FEAR, many people considered it a bad idea, personally I liked his film a lot. Not as much as the original Cape Fear or Night of the Hunter (which it drew upon greatly). But here, PSYCHO is considered one of the finest films ever, technically brilliant, everyone was perfect for the roles, the score is genius, the editing and shot selection... superb. Now, heck they are remaking it. I have to admit I'm curious to see it, in that same sort of train wreck kinda way. Also... I just read in an Australian Magazine called MOVIE, that Bruce Willis may of signed on to play John Wayne's role in THE SEARCHERS... .... ...ummmm... yeah... I'll let that one sit for a while... (steam escaping forehead)

I found this article in today's(May 12th) paper:

Cameras start rolling this summer on Gus Van Sant's remake of the Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic PSYCHO. Vince Vaughn, best known for his role in Swingers, has been offered the role of Mother fixated Norman Bates, originally played to perfection by Anthony Perkins.

Nicole Kidman is considering the role of Marion Crane, made famous by Janet Leigh, while Julianne Moore, fresh from her Oscar-nominated role in Boogie Nights, may play the character who investigates her sister's disapperence(Vera Miles, for you trivia buffs). Moore's Boogie Nights co-star William H. Macy has been offered the Martin Balsam role as the investigator who uncovers Norman's misdeeds.

Just thought you might find this interesting I know I did!
