Leatherface here reports on what's happening up in Maine with MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE, Kevin Costner and Paul Newman's latest. I particularly love the part about the angry water supplier. Hmmm... perhaps after WATERWORLD he felt Costner gave water a bad name? Strange. Well I have to say I can't wait for this film to get done so Costner can begin work on 13 DAYS because I love that script and can see him in the role of White House Chief of Staff Kenny. And till then I can only prey that he doesn't want to play John F Kennedy. PLEASE NO. Play KENNY, he's got the better part anyway!!! Well, here's the news on MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE....
I live in Maine and there is a movie filming up here called "Message in a Bottle". It is starring Robin Wright, Kevin Costner,Paul Newman and Robbie Coltrane. It is a about a Maine shipbuilder (Costner).Paul Newman plays his father. Costner's character writes a letter to his recently deceased wife and sends it out to sea in a bottle. Robin Wright is a New York news reporter who finds the bottle after it washes up on a beach. She is moved by the romantic letter and convinces her boss(Coltrane) that she should investigate it to do a story. She uses her investigative skills to find him. Blah Blah Blah...they fall in love...whatever. Sounds kind of sappy.
Anyway there was a story in the local newspaper that filming began about a week ago. It's filming in a really small town called Winter Harbor. There is only one water company in that area, and it is privately owned. Apparently the owner wasn't too happy about the film coming to town, so he decided not to turn on the water to the summer cottages that the cast and crew were renting. So, all the Hollywood people have had to drink bottled water(I thought they did that anyway) and use porta-potties. The state PUC has stepped in and ordered him to turn on the water, and he has agreed, once his plumber gets back in town next week. The crew seemed a bit shocked that one person could control the water supply, but were making do.
I thought that was kind of funny. Maybe you can use it maybe not.
