QuickTime Trailers! MUSKETEER, O, BULLY, SERENDIPITY, MAYBE BABY

Greetings, trailer trackers! ROBOGEEK here with an armload of goodies for you poor sods to use up valuable bandwidth with. Ah, technology!

If you haven't checked out Apple's illustrious Movie Trailer page lately (quite simply the highest quality digital trailers online), you've really been missing out.

Anyway, here's your chance to catch up on the latest yummy QuickTime goodness! (With more on the way.)

PLEASE NOTE: All these trailers are in "auto-detect" mode, which means the size/resolution you get is dependent on the connection speed you have listed in your QuickTime preferences (ergo: the better the connection, the better the trailer).

Here we go... (Click on the titles for the trailers, btw.)

THE MUSKETEER

...(aka D'ARTAGNAN) may be director Peter Hyams' (and screenwriter Gene Quintano's) chance for greatness. With virtual-unknown Justin Chambers in the lead (gutsy, gutsy move), it also stars Catherine Deneuve (!), Mena Suvari, Stephen Rea and Tim Roth. Harry loved it - and I really hope I will, too. (Can't wait to hear David Arnold's score.) Coming September 7 from Universal and Miramax. [Rated PG-13] Official website: http://www.the-musketeer.com/

[FYI, this is an infinitely higher quality digitization of the trailer than has been available previously here on AICN - and well worth checking out.]

O

...is director Tim Blake Nelson's controversial modern-day retelling of Shakespeare's "Otello," adapted by first-time screenwriter Brad Kaaya. Set in a contemporary high school, it stars Mekhi Phifer, Josh Hartnett and Julia Stiles (ugh - sorry), with Eldon Henson, Andrew Keegan, Rain Phoenix, Andrew Johnson, John Heard and Martin Sheen. It will be released August 24 by the gutsy folks at Lions Gate. [Rated R] Official website: http://www.othemovie.com/

BULLY

...is KIDS director Larry Clark's controversial take on Jim Schutze's novel (based on a true story, and adapted by Zachary Long and Roger Pullis), starring Brad Renfro, Bijou Phillips, Rachel Miner, Michael Pitt, Kelli Garner, Leo Fitzpatrick and Nick Stahl. It's in select theaters now, and also comes from the gutsy folks at Lions Gate (gotta love 'em!). [Unrated] Official website: http://www.bullythemovie.com/

SERENDIPITY

...is a romantic comedy from director Peter Chelsom (AICN's beloved THE MIGHTY) and first-time screenwriter Marc Klein. It stars John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale (a potentially great pairing), along with Jeremy Piven, Molly Shannon, Bridget Moynahan and Eugene Levy. It will be released by Miramax on August 17. [Rated PG-13] Woefully non-existent official website: http://www.miramax.com/serendipity/ (Get on the ball, Miramax!)

MAYBE BABY

...is a romantic comedy from BBC Films and USA Films by writer and first-time director Ben Elton (famed British TV humorist who wrote for Rowan Atkinson's "Blackadder," "Mr. Bean," and "The Thin Blue Line" series, as well as his own). It stars Huge Laurie and Joely Richardson (two actors I can't help but be fond of), along with Adrian Lester, James Purefoy, Tom Hollander, Joanna Lumley, Rowan Atkinson, Dawn French, and Emma Thompson. It will be released August 24. [Rated R] Official website: http://www.maybebabymovie.com/

Enjoy,

P.S.: And, no, the ending of Burton's PLANET OF THE APES doesn't make sense in any way!
