Stuart Baird to direct STAR TREK 10

Hey folks, Harry here.... Variety is having a helluva day of announcements over there. Seems that Stuart Baird (director of the terrible U.S. MARSHALLS and the really weak EXECUTIVE DECISION) has just signed on to direct STAR TREK 10.

Now, it doesn't matter if Stuart Baird hasn't directed a great film yet because the Laws of the Galaxy clearly state that the even Treks be good at least. And this time he has a script that doesn't entirely suck. And a cast that definitely knows how to play their characters.

And since this is his first 'genre' film to helm... perhaps the knowledge that he accumilated from being the Editor of THE OMEN, SUPERMAN, SUPERMAN II, OUTLAND, etc will help. Also, I just have to say that I much prefer Stuart Baird to be helming a project instead of being Paramount's hired gun to come in and re-edit other people's films as he has been accused of doing on both MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 and TOMB RAIDER. Of course, this just goes to show ya, that if ya play ball with the studio, they may toss ya a bone... But Stuart... now you'll have to deal with Rick Berman... take a machete to work Stuart... sharpen it everyday in front of him. Let him know who's boss. Hehehe...

Seriously though, I like that outside (the Trek Family) talent has been brought in to write and direct this chapter in the STAR TREK film series. It has been way too long since we saw that with Trek. BEST OF LUCK!
