Mel Gibson in talks to play Captain in the 'Indianapolis Story' yeah... as in JAWS

Hey folks, Harry here... Remember Quint's story about the 'Indianapolis Story' project back on April 1st of this year? Now I told y'all that this project was alive and in development, just not how the over-eager Quint was led to believe by his source.

Variety says that Barry Levinson is set to helm THE CAPTAIN AND THE SHARK (terrible title btw). Apparently Levinson is currently doing a rewrite of the script at the moment (no mention of who the prior screenwriter was) BUT there is a competing project that UNIVERSAL has that is also wooing Mel Gibson to play the Captain of the Indianapolis over there. Now why Warners and Universal don't just pool their resources, just like with what happened with THE TOWERING INFERNO way back when, and instead of having two projects rushing, you have one that is getting it right.

So, just so ya know... we weren't pulling your leg last April Fools.... See, it was a real project with real rumors... Sheesh...
