Hey folks, Harry here... Personally I love this trailer dearly. My understanding is that Sony is going to be shooting little action vignettes for their trailers for SPIDER-MAN... things that won't necessarily be in the film, but give the audience a picture of the heroics that Spider-Man is capable of. CHECK IT OUT!!! WAAAAAAAY COOOOL!

This site has the new Spider-Man trailer in Quicktime. There are links for a .zip file for PC and a .sit file for Macs. It's OK, but it didn't jump out and excite me for the movie like I was hoping it would. I can hope for better trailers over the next year, though! This trailer is playing exclusively with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within- starting today.

WARNING: This is an extremely crappy BOOTLEG digitization of a gorgeous teaser - a measly 10fps 240x128 with bad 22KHz audio (4.7MB). Ugh. It in no way does this teaser justice. Having seen it in a theater, I urge you to wait and view it properly in big screen splendor - or at least when Apple's QuickTime Trailer team (hopefully) gets ahold of it and can give it a proper hi-res treatment. To you folks screaming about how 'CG' it looks... Do you even have a clue what 10 fps means? That means 10 frames per second.... meaning that the motion is not accurate at all.... regular speed is 24 frames per second... and usually video is at 30 frames per second. Add to that the fact that you're looking at a postage stamp version of the damn thing and you're gonna start bitching about the quality of CG? What the hell? What happened to fans? Oh... did those of you griping not read where I stated that this was a shot for the trailer only vignette? Meaning this isn't in the film. IE... It is selling the concept of the film to audiences, rather than telling you what is happening in the film itself.
This is a teaser in the tradition of the Amber mine/mosquito teaser for Jurassic Park.... or the Car Ad/Time Machine teaser we just saw this week... and frankly it kicks the hell out of both of those.
Why does this trailer kick ass? Because it sells the spirit of SPIDER-MAN to a 'T'! Look at that again. Here we have a robbery... high tech, fast... unstoppable by traditional police response. BUT, up in the sky, swinging about looking to stop crime is SPIDER-MAN... the web-slinger himself... and ya know what... THAT'S COOL!
Oh... as for the speed issues involved in Web-swinging... Folks... think about it. You have a web shot... oh, let's say 175 feet.... Spidey is at the end of that web swinging at full speed, coming into the swing with a great deal of momentum. You ever been on a swing with a 40ft chain..... the speed you get up to when leaping off of the damn leap off point is incredibly fast... Spider-Man swinging through New York, would be blindingly fast.
Ahhh, this movie is going to kick so much ass, it'll be brought up on charges. You'll see...
