Coen Brothers working on bizarre Male Italian Runway Model Movie'

Hey folks, Harry here... Ya know... if it was any other director/writer set and someone said they were working on a Male Italian Runway Model movie.... well I wouldn't believe it, but this is the Coen Brothers... and anything is possible. I mean if you'd of told me they were making a movie about a barber wanting to get into dry cleaning... I would have thought it was untrue... but well THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE exists... So let's see if we can speculate where the possible story could go...

harry,

i've been meaning to e-mail you about this for a few weeks but kept putting it off. I don't know if there's anything to this or not, but i figured you'd be the cat who could get to the bottom of things.

i went to the nashville independent film festival about a month ago, and attended a panel concerning the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack and its success. The panelists were mainly record company folks, music coordinators and the like. But T-Bone Burnett was also there. I believe the man is coolness incarnate. I think he had just come from musician John Hartford's funeral (the panel was delayed a day to accomodate it) but he acted like he'd just gotten in from a vintage mid-'80s bender w/ Elvis Costello. He wore his sunglasses throughout, his suit was disheveled, and he kept his head down on the table most of the time. But he kept answering questions! He was amazing.

Anyway, I asked if he had worked on The Man Who Wasn't There, or if he was collaborating w/ the Coens on any upcoming projects. He said that they had a good thing going with Carter Burwell, and that they would only work together on unusual projects with unusual soundtracks, such as Lebowski or Brother. BUT...

He said the Coens were working on a Male Italian Runway Model movie that he might be involved with.

A Male Italian Runway Model movie?

Have you heard anything about this? Was this just T-Bone's dry humor having fun at the expense of us hick tennessee coen fans? Or is this something that's actually been discussed?

Anyway... something for you to chew on. They also showed Down From The Mountain (the O Brother concert film) and Billy Bob Thornton's Daddy and Them at the festival, but I didn't get to see either one. Heard conflicting things on Billy Bob's movie, but Down From The Mountain has been playing here in Nashville for a couple of weeks at the Regal theater, and appears to have been doing well. Still haven't gotten to see it.

Anyway. Thanks for the great site.
