Phooey! Father Geek was looking forward to another well done atmospheric treatment of a Rice novel, but alas, tis not to be... it appears... maybe...
Just got word that "Queen of the Damned", the Interview with the Vampire sequel, is bypassing cinemas all together and heading straight to video.
I live in the same suburb they filmed the movie; and at the time it was expected that the film would be one of the big Cinema drawcards of the year for Village Roadshow and Warner - not so now it seems.
Originally scheduled to open in October, Warner now plans to concentrate on it's bigger projects; and leave "Queen" to the video crowd. Reason? the acting is apparently not up to scratch; and the film hasn't got the budget to make it as good as it could have been; nor does it intended to promote it enough.
Just a couple of days ago, Anne Rice announced her plans for a third film in the series, "Ramses the Damned" and the name, Laurence Fishburne, was mentioned.
With "Queen" going to vid - don't hold your breath.
Lestat is dead.
