Hey folks, Harry here.... don't know if you've been checking out the trailers online and caught the trailer for POOTIE TANG, but I did... and against various preconceptions, the trailer really got me, so I'm quite pleased to hear that the movie is in fact worth seeing and better than the trailer, which was funny as it was.... Here ya go... no spoilers to worry about here...
Hey what's going on?
Long time reader but first time writer (i always wanted to say that).
Anyway me and my brother were at the movies and someone came up and offered us a chance to see a "new chris rock movie" and it turned out to be Pootie Tang. First of all, I have heard little about this movie. I've read very little about it in summer movie magazines and just recently i've seen some commercials about it.
But me and my brother couldn't say no and pass up this offer. And as far as chris rock goes, I've really like him as a comedian but his movies (down to earth) just don't show how funny he is. This movie changes that.
And as for the movie itself: let me just say that they offered us a chance to see a new chris rock movie and I guess that's how they got people into the theater because chris rock has a small part in it. He comes in and out but provides the movie with some of the biggest laughs. That's really my only complaint because the movie is really funny but would have been funnier if only rock had been in it more. Or maybe that was the idea. Chris rock to get the movie made for someone else. The lead actor (i can't remember his name) is good but i think him and chris needed to switch roles. Now i hate it when people give spoilers so I'm not going to. I'm only going to say that for the first hour me and my brother were laughing hard because the first hour is the best part of the movie.
It's really good because it's moving so fast that you really can't say what it's about other than making us laugh. Espiecally the sex scene. Pootie P. Then for the last half hour when the plot really comes in and the movie really tries to get out it's message....I dunno....it was still trying to be funny but the movie just kinda died. The only thing the last half has going for it is when whatever character comes out as. I think the audience had the same reaction because people were really laughing in the beginning. It was a cool crowd. But me and my brother really enjoyed the movie and i don't mind recommending it because there are alot of laugh out loud scenes and really funny situations....just mostly in the first hour. still, it's ten times better than the crap that I've had to endure this summer.
