Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
Wow... here's one I can't wait to see. Zorianna Kit of THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER has revealed that Universal and Avi Arad are partnering to bring THE SUB-MARINER to the big screen. They're just getting ready to go out to writers now, and this is exciting news. A lot of superhero properties are basically just going to turn out to be the same old stories dressed up in different costumes, but the story of Namor is something more. When I was standing on the beach of Amelia Island on Wednesday, watching dolphins play in the surf just offshore, then looked around me at the encroaching development of condos, I was struck by the same sort of sadness that fuels Prince Namor's rage against the destruction of the Earth's ocean resources. There's a great subtext to his relationship with the surface world, and if it's done by the right creative team, this could turn into a powerful emotional ride a la THE IRON GIANT, but played out against a visual backdrop we haven't seen onscreen before. I'll definitely keep my ears peeled for any further info on the project as it takes shape.
"Moriarty" out.
