Hey folks, Harry here... Many of you know Terry Pratchett's wonderful work from his DISCWORLD series (personally my favorite of all his work is FEET OF CLAY- a friggin fantastic work), but the masses will be enlightened to the magic of Terry Pratchett's witty satiric worlds via PDI's follow-up to SHREK, based upon the BROMELIAD trilogy (TRUCKERS, DIGGERS & WINGS) which Dreamworks acquired earlier this year! Our friends from a world away sent in the following about it all....
Dear Harry,
In an interview for my feature on "Shrek," director Andrew Adamson told me about the next project he's working on, another CG animation project for Dreamworks, based on Terry Pratchett's "Bromeliad" trilogy:
"A small group of gnomes end up thinking they‚re the last surviving gnomes on the planet and they jump aboard a truck and end up in a department store where they find this whole feudal society of gnomes that don't believe in the outside world. They live by the rules of the signs in the store and the sign that says "Everything Under One Roof‚ they take to mean that the world is the store. These gnomes find out the store is about to be demolished and must persuade the others that there is a world outside and they have to leave. It's a wonderful comedic political satire."
I hope you can use this, and please include a link to my feature on Shrek at This Location. It covers the improvements on PDI's animation style from "Antz," deleted fairy tale scenes and the issues of fairy tale likeness rights.
Thanks,
Fred
