I can't help myself.

I have a weakness for comedies in which someone just cuts loose and makes a total fearless ass of themselves.

I am not trying to convince you this film will be good.

I am not even putting this link up to convince you that you have to see the trailer. Don't go if you're not interested.

But god help me, I can't help but laugh at this thing. There's something about Chris Kattan. If there's any character of his that I want to see more of, it's Azrael, host of his own public access goth show from his basement. Yes, it's a riff on WAYNE'S WORLD, but it's a note-perfect one. I went to high school with several real-life Azraels, and the sketch is even set in Tampa, where my high school years were spent.

I remember back in the early '90s when I was still working as a video store clerk... this would have been pre-'93... and I used to see Chris and his father, Kip King, in the store almost every day. Kip is an improv teacher who's worked with the Groundlings and who learned his craft, at least in part, from no less than Stan Laurel. Chris comes from comedy. He's a gifted and, like I said before, fearless performer, and he understands something that Steve Martin once said, something that this trailer for CORKY ROMANO: "SPECIAL" AGENT sums up perfectly...
