Our spy, Robnhud, sent in the following tidbit about Star Trek: 9 (It sucks because it's an odd number)...
Talked to my man in the field briefly today.....
--Banquet scene went well and filming lasted a few days
--They're basically prepping a lot this week and not shooting much of anything of consequence (which means more "filler" shots)
--The Bak'u Village is set next to Lake Sherwood
--They're not due to go on location until a couple weeks from now
Robnhud also shared this info about a film you Trekkers, Trekkies and Shatner fans might be interested in. Seems like awfully polished piece to me. Hmmm did Robnhud steal this from a richer site to give to an information poor site like my own? Hmmm... only something you can tell me.
Just wanted to pass on info to you regarding an indie which is going through post production and is being shopped around to various studios for distribution. I got the scoop because I just happen to be friends with the director, Robert Myer Burnett.

Brief synopsis: ROMANTIC COMEDY. As two friends are about to turn 30, they must face their fears about the future in this contemporary comedy that combines the hip, LA romantic milieu of "Swingers," with the knowing pop culture sophistication of "Clerks."
Robert and Mark appear to be your average best friends. Only they're anything but average. Devoted to movies and classic television, the two would-be filmmakers, fill their lives with work and women. The quintessential "Big Kid," Robert, would rather spend his rent money on toys and laserdiscs and he soon finds that his irresponsibility constantly alienates him from the women he loves. Meanwhile, his best friend Mark, a successful journalist, engages in meaningless dalliances with beautiful actresses and models, rather than have a real relationship, while he spends his nights hopelessly devoted to an inane screenplay called "Bradykiller", about a serial killer that is on the prowl for women named Marsha, Jan and Cindy.
Together with their coterie of manic and freaky friends, we get a view of a Los Angeles universe that consists of bars, beaches and the occasional Toys R' Us excursions. But when Robert meets the girl of his dreams, the two friends find a wedge driven into their friendship.
"Free Enterprise" is the story of friendship, love and obsession in the 90's.
Best line:
GIRL: "You have to start living in the real world instead of the 24th century."
MAN responds: "I'd NEVER live in the 24th century...I F***ING HATE THE NEXT GENERATION. I'd only live in the 23rd Century! Only the original series...! ONLY CLASSIC!"
At present, this film is being shopped around to various film studios for distribution. Warner Brothers is said to be VERY interested and is going to be viewing a "rough-cut" of the movie in mid-May.
As you can tell, it IS a slight parody of Star Trek. It's been described as "Swingers" for Classic Trek fans.
Here's the IMDB listing --- Free Enterprise (1998)
