More on this whole BATMAN 5 thingy

Well I've been mulling over this whole Kurt Russell bit, and the more and more I think of it I can find pros and cons. The fact is there is a gigantic hole in Warner's schedule. There is now talk to not move forward on Superman till after the New Year. Meaning Warners would have a big goose egg for Summer 1999, which considering the Prequel, might not be such a bad idea. However, who ever said Warners has good ideas? But I keep coming back to the concept that Kurt Russell sounds like such a fanboy bit of casting, and Clooney is signed to do two more. So why incur the costs, unless one is willing to buy out Clooney's contract and transfer over to Russell, which isn't a proven box office mega-star. Though I do love him myself. I'd take this Russell stuff with huge bags of sea salt. However, Moriarty does have some thoughts that I thought were worth sharing on the whole subject matter...

"Moriarty" here.

Just wanted to pop in real quick while Holmes attempts to free himself from a particularly clever shark cage/pool table trap I built and let you know that my minions at Warner say there is NNNNNOOOO Official Word about next summer... but he added that with 1989 (the year the first Burton/Keaton movie came out) being the 50th anniversary, that would make next summer (hmmmm) the 60th anniversary. Sure would be handy in marketing the movie, wouldn't it?

And Warner sure does love the SOLDIER footage they've been seeing. This kid -- what'shisname, Kirk Russell -- that they've got in it is supposed to be some kind of tough. I'm not saying... I'm just saying.

I will say that rushing a script through pre-production JUST to fill a hole in a release schedule would be a colossal mistake... but when has that stopped Warner in the recent past?

I tell you, it's a lot to chew on. I can understand why the rumor won't go away. Now, if you'll excuse me, I just heard someone scream in mortal agony, which is my cue to say...

"Moriarity" out.
