Father Geek here with some Euro-news that just can't wait until the next Euro-AICN column on Monday...

Christoper Lee interview about Saruman...

Hi Harry, Father Geek, and hi Edgard too.

Christopher Lee was the president of the jury at the Verona Film Festival. My colleague Francesco Alò was there and met the legendary actor. They talked about many aspects of LOTR, including the languages they used, the relation between Saruman and Gandalf and the other actors. Christopher Lee also revealed he wanted to play the role of Gandalf, but he was too old. The actor answered some questions about Star Wars and George Lucas too.

You can read the full interview here: At Our Site and its in English also.

Bye,

Robert

Baise Moi opens at the Nuart Theatre in LA on Friday, June 1 for a one-week limited run.

Called, "equal parts, exploitation flick, art film and porno video," Baise Moi was branded "pornographic" by French authorities and yanked from Paris screens after only its first four days. Time Europe picked Baise Moi for its Top 10 European films of 2000. Virginie Despentes¹ novel, Baise Moi, a best seller in Europe, won the prestigious Prix de Flore.

Manu (Rafaella Anderson), a hardened young gamine, is violently raped by two savage thugs. Nadine (Karen Bach), a tough-skinned prostitute, sells her body but refuses to give up her soul. Sex plays a pivotal and often destructive role in both their lives. After being united by chance, they decide to alter their destinies.

Angry at the world but mostly at men, they embark on a twisted, rage-fueled road trip. Their relentless bloodlust and sexual appetite leaves dead bodies and mischief in their wake. Anyone, who has the misfortune of crossing their path, is suddenly a potential victim. Though some are just gleefully screwed. The final choice, whether to kill or let live, is a whimsical one. Manu and Nadine rob, copulate, party and kill without conscience and absolutely no remorse. Newly empowered, they feel alive like never before, but these sex-obsessed outlaws careen on a collision course.

Speaking of her co-writer/co-director and one time porn actress Coralie Trinh Thi, Despentes, herself a former prostitute, says, "We share a strong feminist warrior vision, while also possessing an urgent sense of provocationŠwe understand and feel a kinship with our anti-heroines because they are beyond judgement. They live for sensation without the need for any introspectionŠFilming the hard core sex without any doubles was very importantŠWe had to go to a place that everyone tries to avoid. We want to be so in your face that we will end up on your mindŠ"
