DISNEY NEWS!

From Glenda the Good Witch comes news from the Wonderful World of Disney!!! Boy, this sounds like a cool ride + an advance look at A BUG'S LIFE!!! Cool. Here's the report...

However, I noticed that no one has really sent you any info regarding the new 3-D movie in the Animal Kingdom park. Why is this significant? The 3-D movie, "It's Tough to Be a Bug" has characters from the movie "A Bug's Life". Theoretically, you could see many of these characthers several months before the movie comes out...

and I have.

The 3-D movie is astounding, just in its special effects. You enter this theater, which is located underneath the Tree of Life, the centerpiece of the park. The theater looks like it is carved out of the tree. Even the seats, which are long benches, look like wood carved out of the tree. The screen is a butterfly pattern. Once the show starts and you put on the 3-D glasses, the butterflies begin to move, and fly away to reveal the "stage".

The premise is that the Flick, the ant, is inviting the audience of humans to be "honorary bugs" to learn about all of the wonders in the bug world. Flick introduces some of his other friends, I can't remember them all now, but I do remember the large bug you see in those pictures is a stinkbug (of course, he shows off his abilities, and you do smell the effects in the theater). There was a furry spider that shot out some sort of poison (strong puffs of air) darts. There's a big song and dance number, and then beside the theater the head grasshopper, (a fantastic animatronic) shows up to crash the party. He condemns humans for their treatment of bugs and begins to send bees and other bugs to attack the audience. Finally, Flick and his group of bugs divert the attack, and the grasshoppers are driven off. I have to admit, I was so caught up in the show, it wasn't until near the end of the movie I realized how fantastic the animation is!

If the 3-D movie is any indication of what "A Bug's Life" will be like, I can guarantee you, it is going to be everything we are hoping for. I can't wait to go back to see this movie again! If you have any specific questions about the characters or the movie, I might be able to answer them. I'm going to be seeing the movie again this week during the Media event for the grand opening of the park.

So, if you are ever in the Orlando area, be sure to drop in and see the park and definitely see this 3-D movie. Terminator 3-D is cool, but I think Disney has finally topped it.

A couple of other things: I noticed that "Instinct" is setting up at the Disney-MGM Studios. I have no idea how much they are doing here (we made a BIG DEAL out of "From the Earth to the Moon" so I'm not certain that much is going on). However, if I catch a glimpse of Cuba Gooding Jr. wandering around, I'll be sure to start poking around to find out what's up.
