DMANN Reviews Tonight's MALCOLM!!

I am – Hercules!

I generally hate half-hour comedies these days (the cartoons, “TV Funhouse,” “Friends” and “Norm” notwithstanding), but I can confirm that David Anthony Higgins is one funny bastard. Here’s Dmann with the scoopage!

Malcolm in the Middle 227: The Mini Bike

By Dmann

As much as I like David Anthony Higgins, the creepy, overweight co worker on Malcolm in the middle, I can only take him in small doses on the show. The dude is so....nice, and....passive aggressive and just...creepy. The guy scares me. I mean, the actor who plays him and I went to the same high school, just far enough apart that we were never there at the same time (GO ROOSEVELT ROUGH RIDERS) and I really want to support him, being a hometown dude and all, but damn, does he really have to do such a good job at making the guy so....oogly?

The Episode is called The Mini Bike, and that’s just sort of what its about. The boys get their hands on a junked mini-bike, and must team up to not only snow Joe, but snow mom, and actually co operate as brothers!

Dad also goes up to visit Francis for parents day, his mind full of worries about what a piece of crap his son has become...yadda yadda yadda, wow this didn’t really give us any character development we haven’t seen before, Dads disappointed with Francis, Dad is turned around to be proud of Francis, Haven’t I seen this gag before?

But Higgins, that scary mofo from the mean streets of Des Moines, has a chance to shine. His creepyness is the one thing that didn’t feel like old hat here, the element that didn’t feel like familiar ground.

Basically nothing new for the show, just doing gags that work, jokes that are funny, a good cast, doing good work, and still 100 percent laugh track free.

Give this one 3 stars even, it had a good beat and I can dance to it!

Dmann out.
