Now Moriarty has sent in an update on MAN ON THE MOON... sheesh, this evil genius has his ears glued to many projects....
Hey, Head Geek...
"Moriarity" here.
Can't really talk long. I've got the villagers at the door, and they're blathering on about a monster I built or some such nonsense. I think they've got their crazed geniuses confused.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that Garth Brooks will not be playing Bob Zmuda in MAN ON THE MOON after all. Milos Forman did indeed talk to Brooks about it, but in the end he chose Paul Giamatti to play Andy Kaufman's best friend and co-conspirator. You probably know the character actor better as "Pig Vomit" from PRIVATE PARTS or one of the two cops in the great "fuggedaboutit" scene in DONNIE BRASCO. He's been everywhere this year, and he deserves it. This should be his biggest role to date, just by virtue of standing toe-to-toe with Jim Carrey for most of the film. This'll be the second biopic that Giamatti is the last person onscreen for. I love that he gets off the last line in PRIVATE PARTS, and that it's "Howard Stern can kiss my ass in Hell." Here's hoping this role breaks this actor big.
Also, it looks like Forman has cast the role of Jerry Lawlor, the wrestler who beat the shit out of Andy... and it looks like Jerry Lawlor will be playing him. Forman may get other "real" wrestling figures to play themselves in the film. If so, that would be great. The wrestling sequences in the film were some of my favorite material, and very surprising.
Anyway, I've got to go release the Rottweilers, so if you'll excuse me...
"Moriarity" out.
