Yes... there is a trailer for LORD OF THE RINGS hidden as an Easter Egg on the LITTLE NICKY DVD.
No... it ain't new.
Last night I was in our chat room here at AICN, hanging out while working to transcribe my John Carpenter interview, and one of our regular chatters, TK-421, asked me if it was true about the LITTLE NICKY DVD. I already reviewed the disc itself a few weeks back, but I didn't notice any Easter Eggs at that time. He told me what he had heard about where it was hidden and I went to check it out.
Go to the first menu. Select "Special features." Wait until it takes you to the screen where you have three choices. Select "Central Park." When you reach the screen that shows Nicky sitting on a bench, press "left" on your remote until you see a halo appear over Nicky's head. Click that.
Lo and behold, the theatrical trailer for LORD OF THE RINGS, as promised. It's the trailer we've seen already, with that amazing last shot of the Fellowship coming over the top of the mountain, all of them in proper scale in an invisible effect that makes me wig every time I see it.
If you're a hardcore nut and you have to have the trailer on DVD so you can still step each amazing image, then by all means, pick this up. But if you're looking for something new, something we haven't seen yet, I'm afraid all you can do is hurry up and wait.
