Well it looks like Ridley Scott isn't letting recent setbacks slow him down or discourage him. He's going to be moving out on one hell of a great legend. This ranks pretty cool on the cool-meter. Though I wish he could get RKO 281 back, he was perfect for the project and the film would be brilliant. To bad a studio doesn't have the cajones to fix him back up with it. Alas the Electrified Bishop Golfer got ahold of the following news...
Per the tragic staking of Scott's "I Am Legend," various reports have confirmed that the self-proclaimed "John Ford of Science Fiction" (okay that WAS in the early '80s in an interview with Harlan Ellison) has finally managed to begin production on his longfelt desire to make "Tristan," a romantic fantasy based on the Tristan & Isolde legend. Scott has mentioned before (in the "Alien" laserdisc interview) that he wanted to make this film as far back as "Alien," but seeing "Star Wars" psyched him out- he didn't think he could do an epic fantasy film any better. Let's hope this project gets farther than "Metropolis," "RKO 281," or "I Am Legend" did.
Looks like this one's for Polygram. It's about time the man returned to the genre!
