Hey folks, Harry here... Ya know what, here in the last 3 or 4 weeks we've really begun to get an influx of Spy Set Photos, and ya know... HURRAY!!! If you see folks shooting in your neighborhood.... invading your world? Whip out the spy cam and play like Peter Parker before a fight! Get James Bond on their ass! Alright, onto the story... here we had an American in Hong Kong (sequel to that Paris thing?) and lo and behold we gets some behind the scenes coolness of RUSH HOUR 2! Also there seems to be speculation by our spy that Jackie Chan is handling alot of the action choreography in this film... at least on this night's shoot and ya know what? That's a damn good thing! Read on.....
Hi Harry, This is not the first thing I've sent but the first really close scoop I've sent.
2 weeks ago in Hong Kong I was able to spend about 31/2 hrs on the Rush Hour 2 shoot. On the night I was there they were shooting the tail end of a chase scene featuring Zhou Ziyi (Chrouching Tiger) and some henchmen being chased down an alley and then up the scaffolding around a building by Jackie and the later by Chris Tucker's character.
They filmed a steadicam shoot of Zhou and men approaching an starting up a cut-away piece of scaffolding, first and then broke that down and did several versions of Jackies pursuit and start up the building, and then later Chris Tucker arriving and heading up the building after them.
Just a few observations, although Brett Ratner was there and called "action" and "cut" Jackie seemed to be doing a fair amount of the directing so perhaps this will help the action scenes improve on the last film. Also at no time were Chris Tucker and Jackie together on the location. Jackie helped direct the scenes with Zhou and himself and then left to have dinner with an assortment of HK's best and brightest directors, Peter Chan (Comrades, Almost a Love Story) ,Teddy Chen (Accidental Spy) and Benny Chan (Who Am I?), only then did Chris Tucker show up and did his scenes with what looked to me like very little enthusiam.
I have included some Blurry but readable photos of the Rush Hour 2 shoot in
Hong Kong and me with several stuntmen/actors. 0295 is Ken Lo from Drunken
Master II, 0306 is Mark Hicks from Gen-Y Cops (in this film doubling for
Chris Tucker, as he has done since Money Talks), and 0315 is Bradley Allan
from Gorgeous and the first ever non asian member of the Jackie Chan Stunt
Team. There are
several shots of the Scaffolding Set-Up (although they really still do use
bamboo around construction, these were built double strength, in two layers
for the film)

Above you see Is members of the Stunt team discussing the scaffolding rig

The Pic above is a long view of the Scaffolding set up

The above two pics are of Jackie preparing for takes

0299 is a member of the JCS-Jackie Chan Stuntman Team rigging pulley's and harnesses for the actual climb, which was filmed much later that night
