Hey there Yogi, Harry here with a set report from a 'chuck heston' noted gun-hater, but beyond that he's a set of eyes where we need eyes... On Friedkin's latest set... THE HUNTED. I'm gonna comment on one thing in particular... the 'tantrum' that Friedkin allegedly threw... I've had the pleasure to meet and kinda get to know William Friedkin (outside of his Directing world) and he was quite a nice fella... HOWEVER, Friedkin is a perfectionist... he likes to get things his way as a director... he's old-school in that respect. He also doesn't have patience for things not going right. He doesn't want to go over-budget or over-schedule and can be a bit high-strung.... BUT I have talked with people that have worked with William and while there are intense moments... He also gets the job done. Look at the list of directors that allegedly get bent out of shape... Friedkin, James Cameron... ok... that's all I can think of right now... but hey, they rock. Of course they'd rock harder if they had a zen-like Buddha calm. Heheh...
Hi Harry
Let me tell you this. I live in Portland and am an extra on the set of The Hunted. Today before the shooting began late and before Friedkin threw another tantrum (which I was fortunate to witness) I was given a vague plot synopsis by a casting director. If it seems like The Fugitive 3 you're probably right or maybe it just sounds like bad 80's TV.
So Tommy Lee Jones is a special delta forces tracking expert and Benicio is one of his former students, while Connie Neilsen is an FBI agent who apparently ends up with Tommy in her arms at the end which is just silly.
Benicio's character has turned into a psycho killer who blends in through a series of acts and disguises with the locals in Portland, such as street people and cops or whatever.
He decides to lure Tommy into tracking him in an act of teacher against student. they race throught the woods of the northwest into the neighborhoods of Portland and finally through the metropolitan area of downtown for the film's exciting finale on the local light rail train.
Today's scene was right before Del Toro climbs aboard the Max (light rail, subway, whatever) and featured dozens of FBI agents, cops and extras as well as Connie running and confronting and all that. Lots of running and screaming as the extras are shocked at a chase through the city with a madman on the loose.
more to come

Hey folks, Harry here in my dong-flogging state just tickling the ear of the dear ol professor... When Dreams On Hold comes through my visage with images from the set of William Friedkin's THE HUNTED with Tommy Lee Jones and Academy Award Winning Best Actor.... BENICIO DEL TORO!!!!! Sorry, I'm so delighted that I can type that, that I get a bit over-zealous. D.O.H. awoke upon a sparrow's fart to procure these images for us, and he seems adamant to stay on the case through to completion. Hazar me matie, and on with the show...

Hello Harry,
I am a short time reader first time contributor. You can call me Dreams On Hold.
I thought
I would drop you a couple of pictures of Benicio del
Toro and William Friedkin preparing to film a small
scene from "The Hunted".

It has del Toro overhearing the conversation of some local "street kids", apparently while he is on the run from Tommy Lee Jones and the FBI (I have a picture of the Fed's outfittings inclued as well). I guess it's really Friedkin doing "The Fugitive 3".
This is the first time in weeks I
have seen the production move outdoors, they have been
holed up shooting indoors in the local courthouse.

According to the local papers they will be closing down a bridge and later a portion of our MAX light rail system to film a chase scene. If I can get pictures of that or Tommy Lee, I will send them.
Until then goodbye from the true rainy city (Portland).
Dreams On Hold
