Here is Moriarty's MAN IN THE MOON report, with a link to further knowledge about the film. So take a read and marvel at the evil delight that Moriarty infiltrates Milos' next flick. BTW Moriarty was dead on with his TRUMAN SHOW review a while back. Hat's off to ya, my friend.
"Moriarity" here.
As an evil genius, I'm always happy to acknowledge the contributions of another genius to the world. One person who I willingly give the nod to is (or I should say was) Andy Kaufman.
For those of us who are longtime Andy fans, the news of the upcoming MAN ON THE MOON, directed by Milos Forman (AMADEUS, CUCKOO'S NEST) and written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (ED WOOD, PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT) was tremendous news. It's about time someone pay bigscreen homage to the mark Andy left on contemporary comedy.
Casting was a big question mark for me, though. I felt it would take an exceptional actor to pull the role off and somehow allow us a glimpse behind Andy's permanent mask. The announcement that Jim Carrey got the role sent me into orbit. I've seen THE TRUMAN SHOW already and I think Carrey's working at the peak of his abilities right now.
Well, I've read the script finally, and I have to say... it's a stunner, as good as the rest of their scripts. My review for the script can be found at http://andykaufman.jvlnet.com/motm.htm, and I suggest checking out the rest of the site while you're there. It's a exceptional site, and a nice tribute overall.
How is this a scoop? Well, Harry, I can give you an exclusive piece of oddball Forman casting. He's long been known for his eccentric casting of nonactors in key roles, and this looks to continue that tradition. Andy's best friend and main collaborator Bob Zmuda is going to be played by (you ready for this?) Garth Brooks. Anyone who saw his appearance on SNL recently knows that Brooks is game for just about anything. It remains to be seen, though, if he's good enough to deliver the nuanced performance the script demands.
I hope you run this, Head Geek, so people will possibly drop by the Andy Kaufman site. With this movie on the way, it's about time people started getting excited. I know I am.
Talk to you soon.
