Nicotine-Patch Man sent in this description of the new X-FILES trailer, that apparently aired tonight on ET, meaning.. Expect it in theaters with some of the releases that open tomorrow like SPECIES 2 or CITY OF ANGELS, you know the drill. But here it is...
Got a full description of the trailer supposed to air tonight on ET...
SPOILER WARNING (just in case!)
Opens with an upward view of a young boy screaming as he falls through wooden slats (a ceiling?!) covered by dirt and, well, ground (like an underground cavern). 3 boys peer down from above asking if "Stevie" is OK.
Stevie: I just got the wind knocked out of me!
Boys continue to look down in curiosity.
Boy1: What's down there, Stevie? Anything?
Stevie looks around.
Stevie: (yelling) I found a human skull!
A narration begins. White lettering flashes up against a plain black background.
Voice: THERE ARE FORCES ON EARTH...
Back to the boys. They are telling Stevie to throw the skull up through the opening (the one Stevie fell through).
Stevie: No way buttwipe! It's mine!
Voice: TOO HIDDEN TO BE DETECTED...
Back to Stevie. Then the lettering and black background again.
Voice: CONSPIRACIES TOO VAST...
Boys: Hey Stevie! Are you ok?
Voice: TOO BE UNCOVERED....
The boys look down in horror as a thick black substance begins to flow up pooling around Stevie's feet.
Boy1: Let's get out of here!
3 boys abandon Stevie as he is frozen in terror--trapped in the hole.
Voice: BUT ON JUNE 19TH...
Voice: THE TRUTH IS COMING.
We hear Mulder's voice.
Mulder: Scully? (urgently, intense) Run!
Now there are intercutting scenes very similar to the trailer version "A", they're just a little more drawn out. You have a better idea of what is happening. You see a bit with the consortium sitting in what appears to be their office.
WellManicuredMan: We have a situation.
There are explosions, running, etc. A lot of it is pretty fast and hard to describe in detail. (Some of the quotes are in voice over format so the ones I have written here are only who I suspect might have said them.) Initially I thought the following quote was from Mulder, but on second hearing, it might not be. It comes next after some more quickly edited shots.
Mulder(?): I need you on this.
The same heavy percussion music from version "A" is playing in "B." We hear a man with a heavy latin-type accent telling Mulder(?)...
Man: One man alone cannot fight the future.
Then Scully is yelling at Mulder in what looks like a KMart or grocery store or something.
Scully: Mulder, there's no time!
Same scene from "A" with men in biohazard suits with flamethrowers burning cornstalks.
Mulder sprinting around a city corner at night.
Elder(you only hear him): It has mutated.
Reply from ???: Into what?
More extended sequence in the polar region including a spectacular long shot of a large crevasse caving in itself, and a man (Mulder?) running across a snowy landscape. Then a more extended bit with Martin Landau's character talking to Mulder. This you DO see.
ML: The truth is something you never guess...never have predicted.
The familiar strains of the theme (which sounds SO COOL in digital theater sound). The new style white "X" appears left of center (just a bit) as red lettering "FIGHT THE FUTURE" drifts across screen from far right to left. The boom that usually yields "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE" gives us an "ONLY IN THEATERS."
