Hey folks, Harry here... Today, Michael Fleming and VARIETY are reporting that Jonathan Mostow (director of BREAKDOWN & U-571) is negotiating to take the reins of the long rudderless TERMINATOR 3.
Ok, so the script as it currently stands is basically without any real purpose to be made other than to make money. It explores nothing new, takes the characters nowhere new... and in the end game, it has felt like nothing more than regurgitation of party platter foods... nothing very satisfying.... BUT....
Jonathan Mostow is a very interesting young director... Now, while I'd prefer to see him direct Roger Avary's SECONDS remake... having Mostow spend the entire strike refining T3 into a lean and mean film project might be very cool. At the same time, I still really see no need to make this movie other than a last chance cash in.... But with Mostow on board I'd be interested to see what he would do with the material. If he does sign aboard, we're still looking at a post-strike start at the earliest... we'll see....
