Greetings, awards addicts! ROBOGEEK here with a round-up of this year's 16th Annual IFP/West Independent Spirit Awards, which were handed out earlier this evening in Los Angeles.
Happily, CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON (my favorite film of last year) was the big winner, snagging Best Feature, Best Director... and Best Supporting Female for Zhang Ziyi! Hooray! (Look how happy - and hot - she looks!)
Other winners included Javier Bardem (Best Male Lead for BEFORE NIGHT FALLS), Ellen Burnstyn (Best Female Lead for REQUIEM FOR A DREAM) and Willem Dafoe (Best Supporting Male for SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE).
Also worth noting... AICN's favorite documentary of last year, Marc Singer's extraordinary DARK DAYS (which was robbed of an Oscar nomination), won Best Documentary... while El Cosmico's beloved DANCER IN THE DARK won Best Foreign Film.
