All right, and to add to that coolness, we have Cyrus' report below where he tells us all about a pair of stunt doubles in the Spidey-garb... One acrobat and one martial artist... tres cool methinks... Read on...

Hello guys,

Cyrus here. Three of my friends and myself had the awesome opportunity to be in attendance for the World Unity festival filming on Wednesday the 21st down in Downey on the old Boeing site. It was actually alot more fun than I thought it would be (and I thought it would be awesome)

What made it truly an experience is that we actually got to see spidey doing some major action. There are four different stunt spideys total. one for aero-acrobats, one for background special effects, one for ground acrobatics, and the martial artist one who does most of his movements.

Today on set were the ground acrobat, named Alex, and the martial artist one named Chris. Chris is just awesome he really knows how to just move and walk like Spiderman. These two will be Spiderman for the majority of the movie. we were told that Tobey will only be in the suit for less than 20% of the scenes. Anyways, back to the action. We started the day with the scene aft! er! spidey shoots the goblin off his glider. I really like the goblin suit alot. The whole suit looks over-mechanized, I guess a product of Oscorp technologies,(the logo of which was plastered all over the festival) which we were told is a hi-tech arms dealer in the movie.

His face looks just like the comic, except, more stylized and obviously trying to look like a helmet. I guess the whole suit could be summed up that way, no attempt at looking like an actual goblin, just a cool mechanized suit, with a wicked goblin face and lit up eyes.

Willem Dafoe was on set watching the Goblin action, and seemed like a pretty cool guy. The goblin crashes right into the Chinese tent, and I got hit with several Chinese balloons as the stunt goblin was dropped from like thirty feet up and the tent kind of exploded out with air. We were in the background to portray the general panic that ensues upon sight of several costumed super beings, and explosions everywhere.

The next shot was to me the coolest. Alex, the acrobat Spiderman, lined up on the far side of the set. There is a series of banquet tables, loaded with fancy desserts, balanced wine glasses etc., and then after that the tent where the goblin has just crashed and killed several policemen.

Well, right after spidey returns this little kid he saved to his mom, he has to get to the goblin, and he does so in the coolest way possible. were told to panic and react in the background while Alex runs up, does a backflip onto the first table and then flips, jumps, and spidey maneuvers himself oh so awesomely right over to the goblin. Man it was cool! It was like having the real spidey right there, and the acrobatics were awesome!

And I was close enough to hear him say(they replaced Alex with Chris for this close shot.. Man he moves just like spidey!) as he approached a line from the movie! The goblin says "what do YOU want?" spidey says "world peace, but I’ll settle for a piece of you!" and then throws a punch that go! bl! in catches, and then the goblin kicks and throws him back into the tables he just flipped over, destroying them in the process. so cool and corny and Spiderman comic booky!

anyways we had alot of fun, and I even won a "I was in spider man the movie" t-shirt oh, a little side note, one of the costumed extras was flora from the real world Miami. we thought it looked like her, and I went and asked and sure enough, there she was, not too nice in person either!

call me Cyrus :) later!

And then we got this great report as well... enjoy...

Tripp Averon here with a report from the Spiderman set in Downey, CA. for Wednesday, March 21. I know you may already have gotten a few reports already, and it might be a little late but I figured I would send you one anyways. It was an all around great experience the whole day. We got there at around 8 AM and the first thing I noticed was how little security they actually had. The only thing they checked was whether or not you had long sleeves on and no logos on your clothes. Someone could easily bring a camera in or take something from the set out. Once we were in, we were briefed about what would be happening during the day, and then we went right on into the set for shooting. The scenes we were in seem like they are going to be great. I was an extra in the six or seven shots they did during the day. I got a chance to talk to alot of the crew and paid extras throughout the day. From everything I gathered the scene is gonna unfold like this.

Everyone is at the World Unity Festival, (which happens to be sponsored by Oscorp) listening to music and enjoying themselves, when they see the Green Goblin flying high above Times Square. At first everyone there thinks that he is part of the festivities so they begin to smile and cheer thinking it is all part of the show. Peter Parker is present at the festival, as is Mary Jane. Well when the Goblin starts hurling pumpkinn bombs at the hotel (called the Empire Grand) people get the idea that that he's not there to enjoy Macy Gray like the rest of the New Yorkers. Why anyone would be enjoying Macy Gray I do not know. This was actually the last shot of the day the we were in, and it was alot of fun to do. We were "milling" around enjoying the festival, then there is an explosion and we duck and ran around in terror for twenty seconds.

Anyways, while the Goblin is destroying the hotel where I believe M.J. is on the balcony high above, pieces of the hotel and surrounding buildings begin to fall to the ground and there is much debris. At one point a big chunk of rock from which I assume is the hotel, falls towards child and Peter Parker, who is in the crowd, saves the kid with his webbing which they will do with CG later. He then looks at the kid and motions him to keep quiet about what he just saw. I'm not quite clear about what happens between this point and when Peter gets into the Spidey suit. But once he is in the suit he shoots his web at the Goblin and the Goblin falls to the street below into a tent of Chinese lamps. This was actually the first shot we actually were in and they did it three times. I was right in to the left of the tent and when the stuntman Goblin fell ino the tent there was a bang and some of the balloons shot out of the tent and one hit me in the face. It was kind of funny. Willem Dafoe was there to watch all of this, even though he never got into the costume on this day. He seemed like a really cool guy, he was signing autographs and I was standing right next to him. After the Goblin gets up from the tent and the New Yorks finest approach him. He kinds of puts his hands up as if he is surrendering. When the cops get close to him he punches one, kicks another and smashes the two others heads rendering them unconscious.

Next shot I think is where Spiderman shows up in his might I say incredible looking costume. Now there was two different Spideys on the set this day. An Olympic gymnast Spidey that I got a chance to meet, named Alex. I shook his hand while right after he did some stunts, and the material felt just like a wetsuit. I got a real close look at it though, and it is great. The only visible change in the costume is that the spider on his back is a little bigger than in the comics. Another martial arts expert one that was only in a few shots this day named Chris. We were told that he would be Spiderman for more than 50% of the actually movie though.

What we did see of him though was awesome. Wow he really moves like I picture Spidey moving, and I think they are doing the right thing there. So anyways the gymnast Spidey swoops down and rescues a little boy from imminent doom. The next scene was my favorite of the day by far. Spiderman hands the little boy to his grateful mother, and then quickly looks, reacts towards the tent at Goblin. The camera in this scene zooms very close to his face so I have a feeling they might do some spider-sense there. However they choose to do that. He then proceeds to flip and tumble over five banquet tables full of food and stacked glasses of wine, jumps off of the last table, lands in front of the Goblin. Goblin says a line, something like "What do you want?" I think Spiderman says, "World peace, but I'll settle for a piece of you." Very Spidey comicbookish. While this is all happening the crowd of extras are running around like mad. They surprisingly gave us very little direction in these scenes, and it was very chaotic. But I think that was their aim anyways, and I bet it looks great on film. My World Unity Day Festival button got ripped off in one of the scenes, but I got another later thankfully. The director told us that we were supposed to be running in terror from Green Goblin, but then a not much different reaction to Spidey, for this is the first time we're seeing him and we don't know who he is yet. He kept saying, "You are not happy to see Spiderman, you don't know who he is." While he was flipping I actually stopped and looked at Spidey kind of in awe. There was no one between me and Spidey and I'm wearing a bright blue shirt, so unless they delete me digitally I don't see how I won't be on camera. So you can imagine the prospect of me being on camera for the first appearance of Spiderman on film got me pretty damn psyched. So anyways Spidey jumps off the last table, then throws a punch at Goblin's face. Goblin catches the punch and kicks Spiderman back through the tables.

This was chronologically the last shot in the movie that we saw filmed, and I from what I hear a big fight scene ensues. Those shots were really a treat to watch, and I really think this whole scene will be very memorable when it's all said and done. I cannot wait to see the finished product, and as you can imagine it raised my expectations for this movie ten fold. I have real faith that this movie will rock. It was a great opportunity, one I'll always remember. See you at the movies.

Oh yeah, just call me Averon. Over and out...
