To paraphrase Slim Pickens, I’ve been to four state fairs and a rodeo, and this is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard!
Daily Variety reported Thursday that UPN, the only television network more embarrassing than the WB, wants “Buffy the Vampire Slayer!” The best show on television! … the hell … ?
Happily, the Variety piece, authored by Josef Adalian and Michael Schneider, notes that while UPN has tendered ``a significant offer,'' the netlet is still considered a longshot to acquire the right to air first-run episodes of the series (which begins its sixth season this autumn).
UPN’s dark horse status will no doubt cheer the many “Buffy”-loving Americans who have never heard of this “UPN” of which Adalian and Schneider speak.
By the way, though the WB has not aired a new tale of Sunnydale since Feb. 27, don’t expect fresh “Slayer” anytime soon. Though here are six new episodes to air this season (including the doubtlessly mind-frying 100th episode/season finale), the very earliest we can hope to see the first of these is April 10. The latest we’ll see the first of these “final six” (very likely the last “Buffys” ever to air on the WB!) is April 24.
My brain hurts!
