Lucky Lukecash reports from the set of SPIDER-MAN

Hey folks, Harry here with the wonderful Lucky Lukecash and his amazing report from the set of SPIDER-MAN during the first day of shooting with the Green Goblin... We've already seen that new costume in still form, but how did it impress in person? Well read on and see for yourself... Sounds pretty cool....

Hey Harry,

Call me Lucky Lukecash. I was very lucky today. I got to see the first fight between Spidey and Green Goblin.

I just spent my only day on the Spiderman set and I saw the Green Goblin Costume and a correction on a misconception of the Spiderman Costume. I would also like to share a few atmospheric tidbits some people might enjoy.

The first thing is that the Green Goblin Costume is great. It's definitely not traditional, but it is a VERY cool interpretation of the character. The thing about it I like is the bicycle helmet head armor that had the reasonable aerodynamic quality, with the stylized face mask of the character we all love and hate. Granted it is not the purple hat and funky grinning rubber mask; but this thing is a true goblin looking creature, with a scowl that would strike fear into the most courageous man. It is totally Green, high anime-tec look.-and that's what the only negative thing about it. Like my Arizona friend said "Cool at first sight, but then I kept expecting the Power Rangers to come in and save the day."

And the coolest thing about the day, was that William DeFoe does HIS OWN FIGHTING STUNTS. He is a consummate actor. I believe one of the reason that Goblin was designed the way he was that DeFoe didn't want to be stuck in make up. When he was rehearsing-He pulled the top part of the suit down. He acted out his character in his "goblin" voice, with facial expressions that would not be seen each time. It took three people to put William DeFoe was very friendly to everybody, in good spirits despite the high temperature. Mr. DeFoe talked and joke with the stunt doubles and paid extras. He treated them with professionalism on each scene. He even acknowledge a thumbs up from me in his full Goblin Uniform.

While he was kicking Spidermans ass this day, one of the unit assistants Asked us to cheer Mr. Defoe for doing a good job. Everyone applauded and started cheering "Oscar" "Oscar." All of the spider man stunt men was acknowledge as well....In fact, the one of the assistants got in trouble for touching the uniform without gloves when he held Spiderman arm up champ style. The entire set was like a FAMILY get together. Paid extras mingled with us background lackeys. Sam Rami, despite his suit wearing craziness in this heat, LOVES Spiderman and loves the fans. The fact that, I an old doddering Spiderman fan got to spend a day on the Spiderman set was amazing. LOTS of love.

Okay, a major misconception about the Spiderman costume. The blue parts of his uniform wasn't replaced by black, it was replaced by navy. Although my Arizona friend argued about it, several of the ladies in the crowd agreed with me. Women do not agree with me because I am handsome, so I must be right.

Some fun facts about today's filming.

1) Green Goblins helmet comes in three parts. The top/face mask. The skull plate for the back, and the bottom of the "hat" It takes two men to strap it on in about 5 minutes. The suit itself is divide up like an indy racing suit. A cowl surrounds Mr. DeFoes head, a wet suit, then the actual cybernetic (pure guess) armor.

2) Spiderman's costume is eyes are snapped on before filming. It takes longer to do that than putting Green Goblins head on. Looks very nice though.

3)Apparently J.Jonah Jason is psychic- At the newsstand The Daily Bugles headline said "Osborn Board Murdered" Which was funny because it seem that was the scene we were filming. There was another one that said "Holy Cow" The other news paper and magazine were ACTUAL old newspapers.

4) The dust they used in the scene was ACTUAL DUST. They pump it out of the machines...really. Several people hacked and coughed there way through that one:)

5) The building LOOK real..but you touch them, you feel the cheep plaster of Paris texture instead of cool sandstone. The Man Hole Covers were wood Nailed to the ground. The fire hydrant was NOT nailed down, and someone knocked it over in a scene.

6) We did LOTS of running today...but they Fed us and TOOk care of us nicely. The people you meet on the set was varied. Some Californians denying the rest of the country exist. Some people from all around the nation, and a few from Briton were background people. I met actors, painters lots of various people in the crowd. LOTS of Spriderman tattooed people, proving how strong of feeling spidey invokes.

7) The worse part of the evening was the fact that they started filming a scene and they didn't give us any directions of what they were doing. As a result we started running around like cattle. They were NOT impressed.

8) Funniest line I heard today "People, please be careful when you walk over the rocky debris, you will crush them into powder if you step on them."

Hope this was fun for you to read Harry
