New SUPERMAN Trailer Online @ IGN FilmForce!

Greetings, Kryptonians! ROBOGEEK here, currently in the midst of writing my review for the new restored director's cut of SUPERMAN, and lo and behold, I see our friends at IGN FilmForce just managed to score the new trailer!

They've posted three sizes/resolutions of the trailer - but unfortunately in only mediocre MPEG format. I've downloaded the large and medium sizes, and they suffer from considerable noise (both audio and video) though offer a fairly decent frame rate. I don't mean to criticize the fine folks at FilmForce - who should be commended for their efforts - but I'm just dying that I can't digitize the trailer myself into gorgeous QuickTime on my PowerMac G4, because I know I could provide you with far better results (even off a VHS tape).

Personally, I'm surprised to see this trailer online at all (and my hat's off to IGN FilmForce for getting it), as the publicist at last week's sneak preview in San Antonio told me that Warners didn't want it to be seen outside of that market (where it's currently playing in theaters all over town - along with new :30 and :15 TV spots that have started airing). I just wish whoever did authorize its release online (assuming it's indeed authorized) had taken the care to release it right - i.e. to Apple's QuickTime trailer team, which has pretty much set the standard for online multimedia quality.

At any rate, CLICK HERE TO GET THE TRAILER - but be warned that the quality of digitization doesn't do justice to it.

Personally, ever since seeing the trailer - which was produced by a company called Creative Domain (and I think is an absolutely kick-ass piece of work) - I've been dying to have a copy for myself. I mean, how can anyone look at this trailer and not want this movie re-released nationwide for all to see as it was meant to - in a digital THX theater, on a giant screen, with an audience?

And just wait until you read my review...

- Robogeek

P.S.: Oh, and despite what IGN FilmForce (and just about everyone else) says, the May 1st DVD release date is not set in stone - and entirely depends on whether or not the powers-that-be realize that they can indeed re-release SUPERMAN nationally to the same (or greater) success they had with last year's EXORCIST (which grossed $40 million - and was of course rated R).
