A positive look at THE DUBBED ACTION MOVIE (aka ENTER THE FIST)

Hey folks, Harry here with that flick that I'm really not looking forward to even though I think I'll laugh despite myself. THE DUBBED ACTION MOVIE.... We've had reviews in the past the bombed the hell out of it, but now... lo and behold, a positive... the happy happy review. Ah baloney... it is wrong to take somebody's film and do this stuff to it. Sorry... being an ol fuddydutty, but I love these old Kung Fu films as is. I don't need 'help' by Steve Oderkirk to make me enjoy them more... Here ya go....

Yo Harry,

This is King Kobra. I have not reviewed anything since last summers warning about LOSER and what a poo farm it was. Tonight I saw a test screening of THE DUBBED ACTION MOVIE (ENTER THE FIST) at the Galaxy cinemas in Anaheim Hills California. I was excited when the peddler in front of another movie theater last week slipped me a couple invites. This was one of the movies I have been looking forward too. For anyone who doesn't know this is the brainchild of Steve Oderkirk (Ace Ventura, Thumb Wars, and the creator of one of the funniest and least seen tv shows Steveoderkirk.com) Enter the fist is a few decade old martial arts movie in which Steve Oderkirk insets himself digitally into the story. The plot and all of the voices have been changed. With most everyone (Females included) having a stupid sissy sounding voices dubbed in by what sounds like the same guy just changing his voice around. It follows the adventures of the Chosen One (Steve Oderkirk) who tries to avenge the death of his parents at the hands of Master Pain (Who insists early in the film that he will go by the name Betty). It opens with evil Master Pain killing his parents and as he stands over the crib of the Chosen One with a knife has the shit kicked out of him by the four month old baby with deadly martial arts skills. It is shocking to see and really fuckin funny. the first twenty minutes are absolutly incredible but the film goes on a slow but consostant decline getting slower and less funny along the way. Although there are some totally off the wall things to be seen (A Kung Fu fight with a cow, a girl with one giant breast,) It just seems as if they ran out of jokes halfway through and when the lights went up I was shocked to see that it clocked in at a long 70 minutes.

This would be a fantastic hour long show but it would have at least seemed more fulfilling if it started slow and wound up as good as it began. I think I would recommend it because it is like nothing I have ever seen and there isn't anything horrible about it. Just kind of pters out into dissapointment. It must have taken a lot of effort to put it together and it looks real except for some unfinished effects. It is a great idea and I hope it becomes something more people will try. By the time it is released I think it will be a much more entertaininng movie but it also might only be 45 minutes long. It might be a nice alternative for the talkbackers

than wacking off to Dark Angel reruns this summer.
