Hey folks, Harry here... If you've been following the amazing set reports and behind the scenes looks at RUN RONNIE RUN from the head god of it all via Moriarty... well now we have traditional second hand information that we've all come to trust completely. But is this just another of their crafty reports disguised and sent in to me? Could be, they're crafty bastages, but we're trying to keep our eyes on them! Here ya go...
This is my first time sending in info, and frankly, it's not much of a scoop, but it is a smidge of information on a very cool project. Last weekend I traveled to Tucson, AZ to perform with some old friends in my old college sketch comedy group at the annual SICK festival (a small, but fun, student run college comedy festival) and I was surprised but delighted to learn that they had somehow gotten David Cross to host the show (again, this was a very very small festival).
I was lucky enough to get to meet him and hang out with him briefly backstage and at the party afterwards. He was a very nice, cool guy, who played some drinking games and traded shoes with a friend of mine who wore the same size. I purposefully limited the time I talked to him because I was a bit nervous to meet a celebrity I was actually a very big fan of, and I didn't want to pester him with the same questions he probably gets all the time. I did, however, ask about the progress of Run Ronnie Run, the Mr. Show movie. As many of you probably know the filming is already done, and apperantly there's going to be a test screening in the next couple weeks (he didn't say exactly when or where) and then a couple weeks after that they'd know when it would be released. He said it probably wouldn't come out this summer, unless, as he put it, they hated it and decided to just dump it in the summer with little to no support.
He also made a comment to the effect that he wouldn't be surprised if some people were be dissappointed with the film, not because it wasn't good, but that he worried that everyone would be expecting it to be simply a big rehash of the show, not taking into account that this is a movie, and thus, obviously, very different. He's probably right, sadly, but hell, it made me excited, because I can rewatch my old Mr. Show tapes whenever I want, but all I really want to see now, is THE MOVIE.
Thus ends this deeply informative report. Oh, if you run into David Cross at a party, challenge him to a game of Tip The Cup... he needs the practice.
