barbecue a love story

so far so good, on my second to last day. one last film to see. oh what a busy day. 2 films, i can't believe it. oh well. sorry to slack off, but it is john's fault. so it is now time for barbecue, no we actually just ate, this is a film, i guess sort of a love story.

remember back to day 1 when i was writing about dancer, texas pop. 81. well pretty much ditto that for me again. maybe since i had already seen dancer, texas, barbecue did not impress me as much as it normally would have. it is a clever look at the southern culture that i am not too familiar with. you know, the small town people, living in trailer parks, working odd jobs here and there, but their live revolve around one thing: a good meal.

what's the name of that guy that narrated the dukes of hazard? well, i think we found him again. this time on the big screen, giving strange barbecuing tips while sort of narrating the story. interesting technique, but it didn't do much for me (and if i can speak for john too).

the one slight problem is that by now, i have a severe case of what i thought was food poisoning, but may have just been a virus. so that did not make for the most enjoyable viewing experience, especially watching people first kill each other, and now eat a lot. it also does not make for a fun ride home on the plane, trust me.

the last day, day 9

no more partying for me. i had to leave john out on the town on his own last night. i don't think he really cared though. instead i went to sleep in the nice hotel room. ahhh. so once again we plot out our day, i avoid the hotel restaurant where i ate breakfast yesterday and went to my staple, the hickory. then it was off to the movies.
