so back to the worm hole. i take my own little trip to the convention center to catch one last film before giving up for the night and going home. i was actually going to switch teams and see some music tonight, either the olivia tremor control or delta 72 (philadelphia's own) but both shows were so packed and kind of expensive. and as usual, seeing a film would be free. but i would be taking another chance, but i could always walk out (something i have never done, and i am proud of that, especially since people did walk out of this film, and i honestly don't see why).
this is yet another, and i know this has worn out its welcome and you don't believe me anymore, but it was another surprise. sort of on the edge of science fiction, and sort of on the edge of being a grade b movie, this stylish film kept me fascinated throughout the twists and turns of the plot.
just a short synopsis, since people did walk out and it must not be for everyone, it is about a group of people in new york city that are caught travelling through time (no it is not another sliders or quantum leap rip-off). the reason and the actual characters i will leave up to you to discover when watching this film (it probably won't get a wide release, but i foresee a future in video for this). a must see for science geeks, intellectuals, or just any tom, dick or harry that likes to see something well acted and well written (though i think the script may have a few holes of its own, but i may have missed somethings, i was tired). it is also a very cleverly done, pseudo period piece, taking a lot of 50's style sci-fi styles and techniques to tell a modern day tale.
i would to squeeze this in my over-expanded top 5, but i don't think it can fit. but it is a film that i will think about for a long time, and probably rent to see it again.
day 8
a week has passed since i arrived. i feel like i know austin like the back of my hand. john did arrive late last night, and day 8 is spent recovering from a late night, moving our stuff to the holiday inn (spoiling myself for the last two nights), and sitting around discussing simpsons episodes.
i really wanted to see tomorrow night, and i missed it, which was disappointment number 1. i also should have seen either men cry bullets or chicago cab tonight, but i miss both for dead man's curve (but that was actually no loss), and all in all i really start to slack off on my movie going, no thanks to john.
