Hey folks, Harry here with our favorite furry dung heaver Monki and his report from the land of high class redneck cowboy primates in Dallas! That's right, he was scratching his armpits and waving his tail up in North Texas on the set of SERVICING SARA, the upcoming BRUCE CAMPBELL MOVIE!!! Sure, it is claimed that other actors have the lead lead roles, but we know the truth. We know that the only reason we have pre-bought our tickets is because of the BRUCE MAN!!! That's right, Hail to the king baby! Now let's give the Monki some sugah and listen as he makes monki love to our eyes!
Harry, Monki here with a little info on the Servicing Sara shooting that happened recently.
So, fate had it that I was going to be in the Ft. Worth area on the same day as the open extra day at the shoot, and I was like, "Hey, what the heck." So, I wake my furry ass up and show up at the Will Rogers Colliseum at 8:45am and wander around until I find the extra sign up place. They inform me that only "Special Extras" are allowed to be in the early shooting. Apparently this group of extras had been working with the movie for like three days, so they get "special" treatment.
Great, I had five hours to kill. The Ft. Worth Zoo was nearby so I decided to swing over and say hi to a few of my cousins that inhabit the open caged area.
2:00pm rolls by and I head back to the set, and laid all around the roads are signs that say "Free Monster-Truck Show @ 2:00pm!" Oh lord, rednecks and monkeys do not mix, this could be frightening.
I make my way in, pick up my complimentary earplugs, hotdog/pepsi tickets, and (oh yes) a "Save the Last Dance" Cd opener! How can you beat that!!
I find a seat in the corner of the arena and start to take in some of the sights. Two bigass monster trucks, a few hills/moguls, lots of movie lights, hundreds of rednecks. The A.D. comes out and kind of thanks everyone for showing up, and after a while they film a shot of the trucks smashing a few cars, and the crowd going skitzo over it.
I opened up the little flyer they gave us and got a few details. *Spoiler warning* (But I really doubt most people care about spoilers, they aren't goin for the plot, just for bruce)
Elizabeth Hurley is married to Bruce Campbell who plays some rich Texas jerk. Well, she falls in love with Matthew Perry and decides to divorce Bruce. (moron) So, shes got to serve some divorce papers to him before a deadline. To avoid the two of them Bruce runs to a Monster Truck Rally to get lost in the crowd. Perry and Hurley arrive on scene and search the crowds for him, and eventually Perry gets on a microphone and places Bruce's characters drivers liscense on the jumpotron and says "This man has the ebola virus, you must get out of here" or something like that. What a climax! Anyways, everyone skatters, and the people around bruce are supposed to freak. Okay, done with the summary, now, for the shots.
After the initial monster truck smashing stuff, they film us running out of the arena in panic, after we learn that someone has ebola. We do this two or three times.
They bring in some Motocross Motorcycles to run around the arena while everyone screams for them. More filming crowd reactions and shots of the cycles.
Next, (this is the cool part) they move the remaining group of people (two hours into it and a lot of people had left after the monster trucks) into a horseshoe at one end of the arena. I worm my way to the section in front of the cameras and out walks the stars. Hurley and Perry show up in a suburban on the floor of the arena and wave and everything. yay. But then, the king of all things cool happens. Bruce Campbell walks out and waves to the crowd. He grabs the mic and thanks everyone for showing up and hanging around and then he hands the mic back and proceeds to his seat in the crowd for his shot. He sits 5 rows beneath me!! Whoo hooo!! He was sooo cool about the fans too, people had all sorts of things for him to sign, one kid actually had the McFarlane Ash figure with him and bruce took a picture with it.
I cannot stress enough how nice Bruce was to the crowd, he was joking and having fun, definately an awesome guy.
Back to the shot. This shot was where the crowd spots Bruce in the audience and freaks out because he has ebola. The scene ran where everyone kind of looked around after hearing that someone was infected, then freaking out when realizing he was sitting right near us. A bubble formed around Bruce and people moved along with him as he got closer. He jumps down, and makes his way on to the floor of the arena. They shot this 3 or 4 times also.
After this shot, bruce thanked everyone in the crowd again and the took off beneath the set. (That was the last of Mr. Campbell unfortunately). They took a shot of Perry searching the crowd for Campbell and then another with Hurley searching. The crew wrapped after that and everyone began to leave. I swung down to the A.D. and asked if Bruce was around, but alas, he had left.
So, by being within 20 feet of Bruce Campbell my coolness meter has been raised by 1.
