Greetings, Fest Fanatics! ROBOGEEK here with an alert to our geek irregulars in California - specifically those of you who know the way to San Jose.
That's where the thoroughly splendid CINEQUEST Film Festival is currently underway through next weekend, which I highly encourage you to check out if you're in the neighborhood. It's one of the best-run fests I've been to, and is offering some really solid programming again this year.
I'll try and share more early next week, but I wanted to go ahead and give you a heads-up about this weekend's offerings - which not only include a party tonight with the groovy Macy Gray performing, but a conversation tomorrow with Billy Bob Thornton.
Billy Bob, a recipient of the festival's Maverick Spirit Award, will conduct a moderated Q&A followed by interaction with the audience at 5pm at the Fairmont Hotel.
In addition, Cinequest is expanding their focus on digital cinema (which really impressed me last year) with the "Digital by Digital" (aka DXD) technology series, providing a fascinating melding of Hollywood and Silicon Valley. It's a great opportunity to see the state-of-the-art in digital filmmaking and projection, with presentations by Sony, Apple, and Panasonic, as well as nine digital flicks.
