Hey folks, Harry here... it seems that Miramax is dangerously close to grabbing away the American distribution rights to Tsui Hark's LEGEND OF ZU (we here at AICN have been referring to it as ZU 2). Now, while I'm delighted to see an American Distributor for ZU 2, I'm actually a bit dismayed that it is Miramax, who has a long history of destroying the original scores and dubbing the films into English all on the pretense that Americans can't read. American's can read, they just choose not to most of the time it seems... but look... CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON is well on its way to over $100 million... far better than the shitty dubbed versions of Hong Kong classics that Miramax has dumped out on us for years. LEGEND OF ZU is most likely going to be a blast to watch and if Miramax dubs the damn thing... We geeks need to yell and scream... right now, let's watch and see if they have learned anything from the respectful treatment to the asian foreign film genre from SONY.... any bets on this? Variety first reported on the current negotiations by Miramax to buy ZU 2
