I have never posted on your site, but I have been a fan of yours for about 6 months now. What your doing is brilliant and always exciting... why?! because it involves movies I can get excited about seeing :) hehe I was really jealous when you got to go visit the Lord of the Rings set -

I studied in Liverpool, England to get my BA. And this winter I went to visit my friends there and hang out in pubs and the usual adventures i seem to get myself into...Before I arrived, my friend from our old drama school told me there was some film being shot there with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Carlyle. It's called the 51st State. It's no secret to the british press that this film is about an American Gangster(played by Sam Jackson of course) and a Liverpool Gangster(Robert Carlyle) who are at odds with one another to rule Liverpool's underbelly of crime...Jackson is the new Ganster in town with some new drug that he plans on hooking everyone up with to make a big lump of dosh...Carlyle is the good guy who is also a bad boy who wants to protect his city from this new drug and also the power of Jackson...and then, hopefully- by this basic premise and the obvious acting talents of these two great actors-an amazing film comes to life.
This info above is not a scoop...just british press release writings i got a hold of while filming was going on...
Well...my above mentioned friend worked for a few days as an extra on the film...the scene they were filming for those few days took place in a night club and both Robert Carlyle and Samuel L. Jackson were shooting scenes together. Jackson was dressed in a long black trenchcoat, and had huge, long dreadlocks and was standing on some kind of nightclub stage throwing this new drug all over the place to the patrons. Carylye was dressed down in a liverpool football club shirt and the usual track suit bottoms that you find boys wear quite frequently in Liverpool. In this scene some gun firing ensues (not sure who fires the shot) after Sam makes a speach about giving the people want they want(the drug).
At the time I was in Liverpool, everyone had some story or two about seeing Samuel or Robert. And the city is excited about a movie being shot there with these two actors in it. The film may even be done shooting by now, but people are hopeful that it will just rule and give the city another thing to be proud to be a part of.
Harry...I wouldn't say this is cool news..but its cool to me..and i just thought you might like a little sample of a film you may or may not have heard of that will be out sometime this year.
In closing i leave you a little story i heard about Samuel L. Jackson shopping at his local Tesco(grocery store chain) during his stay in Liverpool:
Sam was just shopping and minding his own business, when he noticed that the Tesco employees had noticed who he was and were following him around the store...one of the employees went up to him as the others watched in anticipation, and asked for an autograph...
Sam replied with a smile "Don't you people ever fu**'n work?!?!"
It put all the workers at ease and he obliged them all with an autograph.
