The Aint It Cool Awards -- Best Performance Nominations -- You Choose And Nominate!
Published at: Feb. 13, 2001, 8 p.m. CST by staff
Alright, you folks asked for it, I'll deliver. I haven't done this in two years because it was a lot of work, but hey... I have a semblance of a staff now so it should make this easier for me. There has been only one Aint It Cool Award given out and that was to OUT OF SIGHT as being the best and coolest film of 1998 as voted in 1999.
We had thousands vote in the contest... actually far more votes tabulated than the highly acclaimed Academy of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences. But I felt boiling it all down to one film as a one award over simplified things. So this year there will be other categories for performance, score, cinematography, special effects and others as I think of them. The process will continue throughout the next month or so by way of our POLL on the main page.
Each award will be voted on in two stages... the at large voting, then narrowed down to 10 nominees. Each stage of the polling will have three days to gain votes before the next phase... and the last category voted upon will be BEST FILM OF 2000.
In Each Category to be qualified for a nomination you had to be released in a theater in a country for the first time in 2000. This isn't just for the United States... For example, if you are from Australia and saw CHOPPER this year and felt it deserves the nomination or the actor or director did... then when we call for those nominations... SPEAK UP!
To kick this baby off.... I will now be asking that you readers begin nominating candidates for BEST PERFORMANCE IN A MOTION PICTURE. This could be male or female... main character or supporting character. Nominate your primary choice in the subject line of your Talk Back. In 24 hours the first Poll for this award will go into action.
Now... Who was your choice for the BEST PERFORMANCE IN A MOTION PICTURE IN 2000?
